Broker evaluation

Vetted venues. Nothing else.

A correct market view executed through the wrong broker is still a loss. We keep a short panel of international commodity venues assessed on regulatory standing, spread quality, execution reliability and conflict disclosure — and we re-run the assessment every quarter.

The method

Four checks, run every quarter.

None of this requires special access. You could run these checks yourself in an afternoon — and before you fund any account, you should.

01

Regulator, verified at source

We check the licence on the regulator's own register — not the broker's marketing page — and record which legal entity your account would sit under. Tier-1 jurisdictions are preferred; tier-2 is disclosed, never hidden.

02

Spreads, benchmarked live

Quoted spreads on gold, WTI and the dollar index sampled against peer venues across a full trading cycle — including the thin hours, where the real cost shows up.

03

Execution, measured

Slippage measured on real tickets in normal conditions and around scheduled volatility. A tight advertised spread that widens on the number is not a tight spread.

04

Conflict, in writing

Dealing model, ownership structure and any related-party arrangements requested in writing. If a venue will not answer the question, that is itself the answer.

The current panel

The venues we will introduce you to.

Regulator names below are matters of public record. The verdicts are our opinion — argue with them, and check the register yourself before you act on any of it.

Interactive Brokers

SECFINRACFTCFCA
Tier 1 jurisdiction

Strengths

Institutional pricing, direct market access, the widest venue coverage available to a retail account.

Watch points

The platform assumes you know what you are doing. Inactivity and data-subscription costs add up on a small account.

Our view

The default for a client who wants genuine exchange access and will not be intimidated by the interface.

IG Group

FCA
Tier 1 jurisdiction

Strengths

LSE-listed parent, deep balance sheet, reliable execution and a wide instrument range.

Watch points

Higher minimum funding than regional alternatives; no PKR funding rail.

Our view

Strong on counterparty quality. Best suited to accounts funded in USD or GBP.

Saxo Bank

DFSAFCAMAS
Tier 1 jurisdiction

Strengths

Bank-grade counterparty, full commodity range, research that is worth reading.

Watch points

Premium pricing tiers and higher minimums; the product set leans European.

Our view

Appropriate for larger mandates where counterparty standing outranks cost per lot.

Pepperstone

ASICFCADFSA
Tier 1 jurisdiction

Strengths

Tight raw spreads, fast fills, and a choice of platforms rather than one proprietary terminal.

Watch points

Narrower product range — CFDs and FX rather than listed futures.

Our view

Competitive on execution cost. Read the CFD documentation carefully before funding.

ADSS

ADGM FSRA
Tier 1 jurisdiction

Strengths

Regional presence and time zone, Arabic-language support, familiar funding routes for Gulf clients.

Watch points

Shorter operating history than the London and Chicago names on this panel.

Our view

A reasonable regional option where time zone and language support matter operationally.

Exness

CySECFSCAFSA (Seychelles)
Tier 2 jurisdiction

Strengths

Fast local funding, no inactivity fee, round-the-clock support.

Watch points

Mixed regulatory jurisdictions — verify which entity your account is actually opened under, as protections differ sharply.

Our view

Convenient locally. We disclose the tier-2 entity question in writing before any introduction.

Disclosure.Primeway receives no undisclosed rebate, commission or soft-dollar benefit for introducing a client to any venue on this panel. Where a commercial arrangement exists, it is disclosed to you in writing before you open an account. Inclusion here is not a recommendation to trade, and none of these firms is regulated by us — verify their standing on the relevant regulator's own register before you transfer any money.

Onboarding

From first letter to first ticket.

Five steps. You sign directly with the broker at step four — Primeway introduces and oversees, and never holds the account.

  1. 01

    Consultation

An hour with the brokerage principal to establish size, instruments, funding route and time zone.

  2. 02

    Written recommendation

Two venues matched to your profile, with the case for and against each set out on paper.

  3. 03

    KYC pack

Documents prepared and every field explained, so the application is submitted once and correctly.

  4. 04

    Introduction

You sign directly with the broker. Primeway introduces and oversees — it never holds the account.

  5. 05

    First ticket

The opening trade is routed under execution oversight and the fill is measured against the quote.
